Our aim is to develop a strong partnership between the academy, students and the wider community to secure an outstanding learning experience for everyone. Support Staff 

Lead Teacher for DofE CASUAL HOURS  (MPS1)         Start date: ASAP


The Cheadle Academy are looking to appoint a teacher to lead on our DofE programmes.


The Lead Teacher will perform a vital role on behalf of the Academy. They will lead, guide and support our students, agree their programme choices and sign off young people’s sections / work alongside the verifier to approve their eDofE evidence.


The successful candidate will manage and teach high quality DofE skills to our students on a weekly programme in addition to planning, training and supervising expedition team(s).


As part of the role it will be expected that the successful candidate will also conduct some basic administration such as uploading and monitoring evidence, assist in the promotion and encouragement of DofE at times of recruitment, and work alongside our EVC to organise and prepare trips and visits.


It is expected that the candidate will have some previous experience in this role.

Examination Invigilator   Grade 1– Casual Hours

The Cheadle Academy is currently seeking to increase our team of people to act as invigilators during the examination periods throughout the academic year.

Invigilators are employed on a ‘casual’ basis

The main duties of the team of invigilators are:

Supervising the entry and seating of the candidates before the start of the examination.

Giving out the examination papers.

Leading the start and end of an exam.

Checking the attendance register.

Recording the seating plan.

Remaining vigilant and supervising the students to ensure that they comply with the regulations throughout the examination.

Collecting the finished scripts at the end of the examination.

Supervising the orderly dismissal of the students from the examination room.

Packing the scripts for posting.

Checking that spare examination materials have been collected and returned to the Examinations’ Officer.


The length of the sessions will vary according to the length of the examination. The number of invigilators required for a session will vary according to the number of candidates sitting an examination. The invigilators will be paid for the time required for the performance of all their duties.

Examinations do not take place on every day of the examination period.
